I've decided to write this new incarnation of my blog differently. The last one (I say that as if this is a new version - it's still the same except I've 'redecorated' it and hidden all previous entries. kind of a 'pseudo' fresh start) was pretty annoying at times as I was being cryptic a lot and discussing some private things which really shouldn't have been there for all to see. So now I'll take a new approach to blogging and try to be a bit more relevant, interesting and other impressive sounding words.
All week I've had trouble with Vodafone. I've always wanted a Vodafone contract, they've got the best coverage around here, their 3G signal is the most established and they're one of the biggest networks in the world and I wanted a part of that. But no matter what I did they wouldn't accept me. The other networks were throwing contracts at me, Voda wouldn't. I was coming to the end of my current deal and was happy to move to PAYG but I happened to be wandering too close to a chavz4u store and one of their staff (in a regulation TopMan suit, 4-inch long tie with the knot as large as a cricket ball, highly gelled spikey hair) waved a deal under my nose.
I ended up taking it. To be fair it meant I'd be paying half of what I was on my old contract and I had a Nokia 5800 out of it so it wasn't too bad and it meant I finally had a Vodafone deal. Only thing was I needed to port my number on to my contract.
I asked on Vodafone's eforum about it, they said it would be done quickly and easily. Oh no it wouldn't.
I'm not going in to the details but at one point they almost lost my number. They messed up as much as they could, left hand not knowing what the right was doing, claiming no record of previous calls, not calling back when promised, one idiot didn't even ask my any security questions when I asked him about my account. Seriously, each time I called this week something stupid would happen. Imagine if the Chuckle Brothers were in a Police Academy film and you'd have some idea.
Anyway I finally spoke to someone today who sounded like he gave a shit and guess what...he sorted out my number port within 10 minutes. He even put a credit on my bill which I didn't ask for but was appreciated all the same.
So with that sorted everything should run smoothly. I shouldn't have any need to contact them again so with luck that's the end of any further 'fun'.
